FAQs

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need flight experience to use the flight simulator?

Not at all, the simulator experience is tailored around the needs of each customer regardless of experience or aptitude, whether you are a beginner or a qualified pilot. The session will be conducted with a flight brief beforehand, which gives the instructor an indication of your level of experience prior to commencing the session.

  • What aircraft types are in our fleet?
Aerospace experience Flight Simulators offer the general public access to largest fleet of Full Motion and Fixed Base Simulators in the UK.

FIXED BASE Level 1 FBS: Boeing 737-800

FIXED BASE Level 2 FBT: Airbus A320, Boeing 737-800

    FULL MOTION Level D FFS: Airbus A320 and A330, Boeing 737, 747, 757, 767, 777 and 787

  • Do the simulators move?
Yes, our full motion simulators are all (FFS) full flight Level D with 6 degrees of freedom of movement and are in current use with both UK and overseas airlines. All of them are zero-hour machines which mean they reproduce accurately the flight characteristics of the individual aircraft type to not require real aircraft time during type rating training.

Our fixed base simulators are (FBS) Level1, and are used by professional airline pilots for Jet Orientation Course (JOC), aircraft handling, procedural training and Line Oriented Flight Training (LOFT) exercises. They do not move, but by employing high quality visual systems along with vibration devices and audio-visual cuing your brain is tricked into thinking you’re actually moving. It’s not uncommon for the instructor to be asked at the end of the session “what motion platform was in use?” the answer is of course none, it’s all an illusion! – you’re senses have simply been fooled into thinking you were actually moving!

  • Is there an age, height or weight limit?
In order to get the best from your experience, we recommend that you are at least 150cm tall and guests must be at least 10 years of age or older to use the (FBS) Fixed Base Level 1 Simulators and 16 years of age or older to use either of the (FTD) Fixed Base Level 2 or (FFS) Full Flight Simulators / Full Motion Simulators.

All participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult over the age of 18.

Because the cockpit is a genuine scale replica, it may not be suitable for people of certain body dimensions (height or weight). The space available is compact and if you are in any doubt as to whether you or others will be able to use the simulator, we recommend that you get in touch with us before you purchase any of our experience.

Please note that a degree of physical mobility will be required in order to access the flight deck and take up your seat in the cockpit.

  • Medical Restrictions
Our (FBS) Fixed Base Simulators are suitable for most individuals. However, it may not be suitable for customers with photo sensitive epilepsy or who has a sensitivity to strobe lighting effects, have back or neck problems and those who are pregnant. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in good health before booking to use the simulator.

Our (FFS) Full Flight Simulators or Full Motion Simulators may not be suitable for customers who are prone to motion sickness or with photo sensitive epilepsy / sensitivity to strobe lighting effects, have back or neck problems and those who are pregnant. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in good health before booking to use the simulator.

If you have any queries about how a medical condition may affect your experience, then please contact our team who will be happy to discuss matters with you.

  • What Should I wear?
We recommend loose comfortable clothing and flat shoes. Though please feel free to wear a pilot’s uniform or similar if you wish for photographs.

  • How many people can I bring with me?
All participants are permitted to bring a guest to share their flight experience. The guest can sit in the ‘jump seat’ which is situated behind the Captains seat in the cockpit of the simulator where available. Children under the age of 16 should be accompanied by a non-flying adult. Other guests are welcome to wait in the reception area / Lounge for the customer to complete the flight or 4 may choose to observe the Level 1 FBS only .

Our full motion simulators are not large spaces, and the facility operates 24 hours a day and is used by the airlines to maintain their pilots currency, so you may only bring a maximum of 2 adults (over 16) with you to the simulator, unfortunately the centre cannot accommodate more people than this.
